Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 6th Engineer Battalion was redesignated on 15 June 1967 as the 6th Engineer Company. There it served until it was inactivated on. It was redesignated on as the 6th Engineer Battalion, relieved from assignment to the 6th Infantry Division, and concurrently activated at West Point, New York. The Battalion was reactivated on 4 October 1950 at Fort Ord, California and inactivated on 3 April 1956 at Fort Ord, California.
